Are the CPU's in G3 Imacs socketed or soldered? Is it possible to pull an iMac's CPU for use in a Beige G3?

And if soldered, is it sane to attempt desoldering?

Thanks in advance.

The powerlogix and other upgrades that go over 533 for the beige have their own multipliers on the board. They run at 66MHz with a 12x multiplier. If you were to put it in your beige, the best you would get is 533 based upon the motherboard jumpers. To go over 533, you do need to use the manufacturers boards with the custom multiplier settings.
