Another browser to look at, particularly if you are running X on a low-end G3, is Opera. Opera got rid of its ad-supported mode and is as free-as-in-beer as IE and Safari but not free-as-in-speech as in Firefox. Opera is also very lightweight compared to the biggies. On my 300MHz G3 iBook "clamshell" machine Opera is my browser of choice for most applications. However, there are websites that I have to fire up Firefox to use. I find on this machine that Safari is bloated and a memory hog by comparison. Of course Firefox has memory leaks too, and shouldn't be left open too long. I run Panther on this machine. So if you have a low-end machine on this list consider Opera. If you have a more high-end machine Firefox should be your browser of choice, but just make sure you don't leave it sitting open too long. Hopefully 1.5 will fix this nasty memory leak problem.
