Hi Listers,

On and off I've been mentally toying with the idea of using Linux on my Mac, but something happened today that made me get a little more serious about it. Namely, I found out that some online courses I'd like to take require either Windoze or Linux. Given that choice, I pick Linux.

I've been Googling for the better part of this afternoon concerning Linux on Mac, and it looks like Yellow Dog 2.3 is my best bet as to what will run on my Beige. What I'd like to do is put my spare SCSI hard drive (it's a 4-gig) in the Beige and use that as my Linux drive (so I wouldn't be risking my main Mac OS drive).

I know there are a few of you who run Linux on your Macs, so, to confirm, is Yellow Dog 2.3 really the best one for me (if not, what do you recommend?), and is the idea of having Linux on another HD feasible?

Equipment Memory Refresher: Mac G3 Beige, OS 9.2.2, Rev 3, 266 MHz, 768 megs of RAM now :-)

Thank you for your help.

You will need MAC 9 to boot YDL so you don't _need_ the extra drive.
That is twice the RAM I have on my desktop G3 & it can only help.
