WD made a series of 3 and 6GB Caviar drives that were really bad, but otherwise they're ok.

We've had hundreds of systems come through the College, with all sorts of drives, and, truthfully, we've never had consistent issues with any brand.

Hard drives, in general, a pretty damned reliable.
