One thing is that in order for Apple to remain competitve with these new machines is that the price will definitely have to come down. Not a huge amount but they will have to drop. Why would you spend double the price if the only major difference is the software? I am still sure that apple will continue to put out quality products, but lets be honest, ide controllers instead of scsi,usb, same memory and with tiger, native support for a lot of dvd drives without patchburn so, we are getting a lot of crossover already.
