You only need to tape the pins when trying to use an AGP 8x card in any G4 other than the Pre-ADC Sawtooths.

AGP 4x cards are fine. If it's a PC card and you don't mind the potential (though very unlikely - it's always possible to flash an original PC BIOS back onto the card if it doesn't work in a Mac) prospect that you might fry the card, you need to look into flashing a Mac compatible video BIOS on to it. Have a poke round the forums on http://strangedogs.proboards40.com/ and see if you can find anything relevant to your card. If It's a GeForce 4 Ti, you stand a fairly good chance, but nobody's ever managed to get a GeForce4 MX working with a Mac ROM AFAIK (and I've tried myself)

Justin,

I've been following this thread with interest. I've got a 4x AGP Nvidia GeForce 64 Meg Vid card w/ DVI & VGA that I would dig being able to get to work on my Sawtooth. It is of course a PC card.

Are you saying there 'may' be a way to fool the card or the video bus so it would work? Any leads on where I might look for info on this? I've never come across anything about it in my prior attempts to get the card to work so of course 'any' info would be welcome even if you don't have first hand knowledge.

Thnx,

Dave

The 4x part... That would possibly require taping of some 'pins' on the edge connector. That, I don't have the info on.
