Nobody said that Intel processors would help lower the price in the short-term, at least nobody who did their research. In fact when the original announcement was made last year, that IBM was out and Intel was in, a number of people pointed out that the PowerPC CPUs were cheaper to buy than x86.
Plus, Apple is still to a large degree a premium brand. Also, if they seriously reduced the prices of the new Intel models, what are Apple going to do with the existing ones. An "everything must go" sale?
And the "MacbookPro"? What a mouthfull. Couldn't they think up something better than that?!?!
