<<Which would NOT be true if only Apple's software engineers had
properly
"optimized" the OS for the G-series as was previously stated on this
list (more than once! Am I the only one who reads this stuff?). OS X
COULD have been MUCH faster on the G-series if Apple hadn't for some
unknown reaon tied a brick around it's neck.>>
Actually I think I have read EVERY post on the subject. However, I
don't recall it being mentioned that OS X was any more optimized for
x86 than it was for PPC. So are you telling me OS X is optimized
better for x86?
<<Maybe when OS X is running on every Dell, Gateway, and HP out there,
and Apple isn't making computers anymore, you'll all finally realize
that this Intel thing wasn't such a great idea after all. Tiger for x86
is already available all over the web. But I guess the majority of you
"Mac people" only care about the OS anyway, so it won't really matter
to you.............>>
Trust me, I care. I had just finished telling my friends that MAYBE
Xbox 360 games could be easily ported to the Macintosh G5s since they
are both based around PPC970s when I heard the news of switching over
to Intel. I was practically devastated. But, the G5s NEED
watercooling at 2.5GHz. And they are rather large chips. The G4 was a
nice chip, small, low power, relatively cool, and powerful. The G5s
are huge, hot, and power hungry. And in my opinion, the cases are
kapoot compared to the G4 cases. Sure the aluminum was nice, but I
really appreciated not having to turn my computer on its side to work
on it. As far as Im concerned, the G5s aren't that great, and Im not
going to miss them. The G4 I will miss.
