...by the way, I am getting a new motherboard for my B&W (Mine somewhat got damaged.. when I got it the firewire ports were damaged already -I am using a sonnet card for it- and tried to replace the little firewire box for another one with the same result. Alas, I think it´s the motherboard. But then I lost the secondary IDE controller, after I got a -severely- corrupted HDD, it never recognized anything attached to it any longer.

Fact is, once I get the other -hopefully totally functional- motherboard, we could try your 450 on my old B&W motherboard, to ensure it does work properly...

Hello Len and thanks for your reply.

Did you change any other settings except for multiplier? Like bus speed or pci speed? A zif from a B&W should work with no problems in a beige, I have a 350 (slightly overclocked) in one that has given me no problems at all. Are you sure the B&W zif is good?

I did not change any other setting but the multiplier. In fact the original CPU is working now with individual jumpers in the jumper block, not the white multi-jumper.

I can't be sure about the CPU being good. I got it at ebay and the seller claims it is OK. In fact he claims it is good up to 500 MHz.

I don't know if this is relevant, but the die size of the 266 CPU is way larger that the one in the 450. Are there different versions?

There are 2 types of accelerators for beiges. One is just a zif like you got and had to adjust the jumpers on the motherboard and the other, like Sonnet, iirc, deals with the bus multiplier on the card that the processor is on. What you got from the B&W is the same concept that OWC sells, just a zif where you have to set the jumpers manually.

That's it. The idea was to add no redundant hardware at all.

Many thanks.
