The thing is: I plug it in, push the power button, button goes
bright, PS, case“s fan cooler and CPU fan cooler spins, then when I
get my finger our of the power button, it goes dark again, fans spin
down and remain shut. Nothing on screen, no other noises heard.
Up to now, I have the doubt whether it may really be a fried MoBo,
or should it be some kind of failure in the power supply instead.
I noticed the power supply unit very similar of that of a Pentium IV
one... Maybe it is too much of an insult to compare both
(chuckles!), but... Does anyone has an idea if it is indeed the same
kind of P/S ? Any idea of what kind of failure would it be if not?
Given that the machine does spool up, I'm thinking the PS is an actual
Apple unit. (I'm also assuming this machine is mounted in an Apple
case or using an Apple front panel pcb to operate the power switch.)
The way to tell will be to look for a label listing voltages and amps.
If you see either 28v or 24v listed, it's an Apple power supply.
