contents were protected against damage caused by the shipping itself, and

Correct.
And it's only insurred to the amount of the auction close (the market
value of the item).
Aside - That means the $1 printer, with $35 shipping, that gets
crushed by the UPS Gorilla is only going to net you $1 on the
insurance claim... And putting anything on that form other than the
actual FAV (final auction value) is Fraud.
