You could continue to use your external Zip 100 by installing a PCI

But for a long range strategy, how do you back up your Zip disks?
Those disks are not the best for long term, permanent storage. Do you
copy them to your hard drives? Once copied to one of your internal
hard drives, you could then use an external hard drive for backing up
your photos again. Also, I would question whether the Zip drive is
robust enough for the long term.
Dear Al,
Actually, that is a very valid question. I backed up stuff on the HD
with the Zip disk, not the other way around, so I guess I really don't
need the Zip. Do I REALLY need it? I doubt it because I have 2
internal HDs & an external one that is basically used for storage.
Besides, there is another platform in the G-3/G-4 for another HD & I
could install a really large one if I think I need it (which I doubt).
I guess I don't really need a Zip. It is rather an idiosyncratic
thing, I guess. I just sort of LIKE a Zip drive. LOL. Forgive me!
Although I live in the heart of Silicon Valley, about a mile from Apple
Hdq.,( who's address is No. 1 Infinite Loop--Boy, whoever named that
street had a sense of humor). I lived here when it was "Santa Clara
Valley" & there WAS no Silicon Valley. I am 82 and perhaps am a little
"behind the curve" technologically" speaking, but I do enjoy my
computer and the access it gives me to the outside world. I used to
travel the world, pretty extensively, but am now pretty much a
"stay-at-home". I do thank you for your information. I really enjoy
reading what you "kids" (no offense intended) have to teach this "old
duffer" and appreciate the Lists that are available to me.
I have never had anything but a Mac & don't ever want anything but a
Mac. LOL . I can work on my hardware & software, install my own DSL
system. etc. The Mac is elegant, simple to use, efficient, (I've never
had a virus, Trojan, etc.) and the graphics are unbeatable. I really
need to utilize what the OS 10+ offers me, which so far, I have not
taken full advantage of.
I promise not to be "verbose" again", but this is my "maiden voyage" on
this List and I was part of the Financial Establishment that financed
the silicon industry before "Venture Capital" was even an expression!
Thanks for "indulging" me this once!!
