Are the B&W G3's subject to the 8 gig rule for OS X?

No, no machine which has built-in USB (Lombard) or built-in USB and
Firewire (Pismo and B&W), and all later, are subject to this restriction.

No Powerbooks, no. But the tray loading iMacs, with USB, do fall
under the 8Gb limit.

Then those iMacs are, by definition, "Old World".

This is the canonical list of the machines affected by this issue:

<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106235>

"[The] 8 GB limitation applies specifically to these computers:

* PowerBook G3 Series, excluding PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze Keyboard). See Related documents below.
    * Power Macintosh G3 Desktop
    * Power Macintosh G3 Mini Tower
    * Power Macintosh G3 All-In-One
    * Macintosh Server G3
    * iMac 233 MHz
    * iMac 233 MHz/B
    * iMac 266 MHz
    * iMac 333 MHz
    * iBook
    * iBook (FireWire)

SCSI hard disks may not be affected, regardless of their storage capacity."

These and ONLY these computers are affected. The iBooks mentioned are the *original* multicolor iBooks, not the later white ones.
