Stopped or reported an error? I get the occasional "Time Machine has  
failed to finsh a backup" errors.

I suspect this doesn't have anything to do with Time Machine.

Oh, no. Time machine is pretty robust. I expect that if you powercycle  
your system everything will work ok.
