If you look at your OSInstall.dist file, you can eventually discover
what machines your discs were "designed for".

On the Installation CD Disk 1, after changing the View to Columns,
navigate as follows:

System > Installation > Packages and Right Click on OSInstall.mpkg
while holding down option, and choose "Show Package Contents".

Change to View Columns then Select and drag OSInstall.dist to your
Desktop.

On the Desktop Copy, change the dist suffix to txt, and open the
resulting file with TextEdit.

Then study the code and see what machines are covered by your CDs.

This is some of the code from an eMac set I bought off the LEM List:
var badMachines = ['iMac','PowerBook1,1','PowerBook2,1',
'AAPL,Gossamer', 'AAPL,PowerBook1998', 'AAPL,PowerBook1999'];

and later in the code:
var hwbeSupportedMachines = ['PowerMac4,4', 'PowerMac6,4'];

Things like that are of interest.

I eventually made a CD1 for myself, and used it to install onto a
supported machine (my Quicksilver), then CCCd it to other machines
(my PowerMac 8500).

After that exercise, someone gave me a 10.4.6 Installation DVD with a
computer purchase and all the above became, well, a technobabble
exercise.

Maybe someone can help with the details ... I don't think I'm allowed
to here ...
