Here is a test image taken under better conditions. <http://dbdev2.pharmacy.arizona.edu/miscjunk/hue.html> (Student group had a bake sale this morning...) Bottom line, it looks as though the claimed resolution of 1280 x 1024 (1.3 megapixels) is based on an interlaced video signal. The snapshot takes one frame. The true resolution of the CCD is very likely 640x512, so when it's blown up to full claimed resolution it looks like crap. Their included video monitor properly interlaces both frames and displays it as a single image on the screen, so the OS screen cap looks better. Not exactly false advertising, but quite close, imo. It could also just be the Mac driver, as well. I haven't installed it under Windows to see what it looks like there. As a video chat camera, under good lighting, it's looks to be a good webcam...it's just too bad it isn't a USB2 camera, so it works natively with iChat. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
