IF the volume is FAT and damaged, repair it under WIndows. The best tools for that be there. IF the volume is undamaged, go ahead and back it up to your Mac. The data will be kept intact - transferring from FAT or NTFS to HFS+ (Mac) is no problemo. >those suggestions may be necessary if the drive is actually in Mac format. IF the volume is in a Mac format (HFS, HFS+, Mac OS Extended) then try using Apple's Disk Utility to repair it. If that fails, try DiskWarrior ($). If that fails, and you're willing to pay the bigger bucks, try Data Rescue II or a commercial recovery service. >I searched this forum for data recovery topics, but surprisingly with no luck. Yea. Physical drive failures aside, Macs don't suffer from winrot. Disk Utility handles 99% of all problems. DiskWarrior usually gets the rest. But before we tell people to buy DiskWarrior, we usually tell 'em to just use their backups. - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
