Also, don't be so quick to dismiss Gimp/Seashore. You would be surprised as to the text manipulating features that "photo retouching" apps have now a days.

You can also try Graphic Converter. Mostly photo, but some text tools.

For low cost, check out the Low End Mac swap list. Many a deal can be had there.

Ok, thanks - went to the Gimp site, looked around, didn't see anything about text integration, will continue to investigate.
