Are you watching images? I do this all time e from a G5 PM via wireless to a TiBook 500. But I mount the image on the TiBook.

Streaming -- a connection via IP to a server (another computer) running a real-time streaming software package. Most often this uses http as the transport protocl. The point is that the server software priorititzed so as to push the data at full speed.

Sounds like what you'all are doing is just feeding a player some sort of afp or smb or http url and hoping the general server daemon magically manages to push fast enough.
