I'm sure you'll get a bunch of responses with this one but first search and download 'Macams' as it will allow you to run a multitude of different USB powered webcams.
Second I would like to recommend a webcam by Rocketfish, model number RF-HDWEB. I prefer this one because it is capable of taking 8MP stills, has great higher resolution video quility that can be compressed rather easily, and has a built-in mic with superb pick-up and gain.
