This is just so strange, I re installed my version and it still did not work. I downloaded your copy and installed it and it works fine! I didn't find the button for Synaptic you made but I could see the notes you added in the change log when I made a new package with it.
The Shell command is driving me a bit nuts. I made a log out manager/app and the shutdown command does not work but if I copy and paste it in lxterminal, it works fine. Got to scratch my head on this one.
