Hi Ryan,
One thing I live out in the country so there isn't the usual sounds of 
city life. The digital recorder was placed on the ground and I walked by 
it. Third recording digitally rather than on tape reduces clicks and 
pops from the tape player.  Fourth I did it after dark when there was 
almost no noise to fudge the recording.
All editing was then done in Goldwav.
