I'm certainly going to be purchasing large amounts of sounds at once (if I
do purchase any), which is why I'd prefer to default to free sounds where
possible. I haven't done much research into buying libraries though, do you
know if many of them offer downloads instead of physical media?

Hi John,

Generally it is a bad idea to buy individual sound effects, for the exact
reason you mention. They tend to be rather expensive. It is when you buy
entire packages, such as a CD or even a set of CD's, that the price per
sound drops to practically nothing. But then you still have to pay out a
larger sum up front to get that package. It just depends on how many sounds
you need. If you need three or four sounds, then I'd buy the individual
ones. If it is more a case of needing sounds when you think of something new
to add to the game, I'd go for a general collection such as a few disks from
the Sound Ideas 6000 series or something from the Hollywood Edge.

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

What's the average price per sound on these? I took a look at some of
soundDogs sounds yesterday, and they were asking $3.5 per sound or so, which
is rather out of my budget. I've scene soni selling a couple libraries of
sounds for around $0.25 to $1 per sound, is this generally average?
