dark basically covered most of it, you either get dropped off at a random planet or you can join other players if you know where to find them from there you gather resources, craft armor, weapons, new crafting tools and even your own ships you can fly in to space and go through warp gates to other solar systems if you have a ship with a warp jump module, kill pirates, and kill other players if you're bored
