Hi, I'm not Phil but I believe you can. First it's a part of the GMA engine, and second there are places when you need to do it. For example, if you proceed from ground floor upwards and don't go to the dungeon, I believe you will have to return there sooner or later. The same goes for the chamber of secrets or the headmaster's tower, which can be both entered from the second floor.
