I'm sure you know what they say about the spelling of assume. My point here is that being able to select sam is not necessarily a sign of having sapi 5.0 or higher installed, and it could lead to troubleshooting problems if people assume they have 5.0 on their systems just because sam is available. I am not referring to just Mitch here, but in Mitches case, saying he didn't install any other voices doesn't mean SAPI 5.0 is working correctly, or that he didn't regress with an older install of SAPI, though it is highly unlikely he did. Overall lesson here I think is to be careful what you assume when troubleshooting software problems on strange systems, nothing should be assumed in my opinion, I have seen some very odd problems with a few installs of RR due to people not being careful of what they are putting on their systems.
