Hi Ken, Yeah. I have to agree with you on this. I remember reading Star Wars Blood lines and remember feeling very sorry for Boba Fet. He finds out he has a deadly genetic disorder common toClone War era clones, and there is no known cure. When he asks why the cloner who created him in Attack of the Clones stated that clones were expected to be created and die on the battle field. They were expendable people. Never mind he was a human being. In that way the book makes an excelant case for the evils of cloning, how it can be abused, and that human rights for clones would have to be protected if humanity ever designed the technology to reproduce using genetic science. Anyway, the point was you were able to be drawn into the plot, and you become emotionally attached to a character we all thought was a villen. Especially, when you see his life all laid out for display, his failed marage, estranged from his daughter who hates him for not being the kind of father she wanted, a genetic cloning disorder, seeing his father beheaded by Jedi Master Mace Windu as a child, etc all turned him into a cold and unhappy man.He became ruthless because life to him was ruthless and unloving. As you pointed out older books in there own way share similar kinds of drama. Consider Gone With the Wind. One of the reasons the book remains a classic is because Scarlet litterally goes through heck. She starts out the book as a bratty, spoiled, ritch girl who likes to have her fun and screw with the boys head. The Civil War changes her character and molds her into a bitter but strong willed woman. Her trials during certain events such as the Union burning of Atlanta is just a case in point. It is fine to read Harry Potter, Star Wars, and newer materials but some older books have lots of plot and drama as well that the yunger generations I feel missed somewhere along the way. Anyway, let's stear this back to gaming shall we?
