Hi Nicol,
This is because you can not load a game from the main menu so I put you into 
a wall first.
I do not know why the creatures can get you.
I assume you can still play the saved game.
This is one of the bugs that is built into the engine and I  have tried many 
ways to get it to work correctly but can not.
I suggest just using the f4 choice once the level has started as that is the 
way the engine likes to do it.
