Hi Ryan,
An excellent suggestion, instead of penalizing people who save their game how about rewarding those who don't. If you complete a level without saving you get an extra healing potion added to your total.
That should be easy to do at the beginning of the next level.

I'm with you. So the save feature is there and we can decide whether or not to use it, but those of us who don't save every ten steps don't get anything
special for actually playing the game well.
