Hi,
The advantage of it over standard flee is that you can pick a direction to
go in, or type retreat by itself and go back the way you came, which
presumably might be devoid of mobs. Whereas with run, you flee in a random
direction, which could be into a trap room, into a boss mob, etc. Also, if
you get into a noflee room for example the alchemist in ralnoth's room, you
can often retreat and get out where flee fails. If you're in a nomagic room
you can use retreat instead of word also. The group part of retreat is
really only half the advantage. Also unless I'm mistaken retreat has a
higher chance of succeeding (at high skill levels) than flee does. Many
players (if not almost all) that are higher level use retreat exclusively
over flee because of the flexibility it gives you.
Hth,
-Michael.

Well that is true, though i'm still a little confused as to the bennifit of
the skill over standard running, sinse the description in help implies that
it's only really useable in a group.
I'll probably stick to word of recall, unless anyone else has any thoughts
on this.

Hi,
As with most skills and spells, the success ratio is determined by how
well you know it. So if you put only one practice in it and it requires 4
to become very good, then you will have roughly a 21% chance of it
working. If you, however, put 4 pracs in it you would have a lot more
chance.
Hth,
-Michael.

Hi Michael.
retreat has never done any good for me at all, indeed I'm a little sorry I
wasted a practice on it.
Whenever I type retreat I get "you yell reatreat! and wait for an
appropriate moment, but it never comes" run seems far more efficient,
though
it does help to know that word of recall can be cast in combat.
I suppose I could also try peace if I want to stop a battle too.
Beware the grue!
Dark.
