It varies. I know the entire list got hacked into sometime either last year or the year before and suddenly I was posting to the list seeking all kinds of bizarre homosexual adventures. I need hardly point out that these were things I wouldn't even do with a lady. But that's one of the reasons I don't use HOtmail anymore, although I do have an address for the soon-to-be-discontinued Widows Live Messenger.

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] virus alert! on list

Since this has never happened to me before, I'm curious to know how or
why my account was hacked. I, too, didn't think it was likely for that
to happen to a Gmail account, but I guess I was proved wrong. Does
this mean I have a virus on my computer that I should be looking into,
or do email accounts get compromised randomly sometimes? I'm not
noticing any weird behavior otherwise from my computer, nor has
Microsoft Security Essentials alerted me of any problems, so I'm not
sure if I should be doing anything else besides what I've already done
to secure my email account.

well I have a friend on hotmail, and friequently his address sends

Saying that my uncle had an account hacked.
he was banned from using any ms service, and it took me and him
several hours to restore everything, this included his ms account
cloud service and windows activations insidently.
Its why I am so happy I have gmail.
And why I have 2 windows ms accounts.
this email has one just for ms services but I have another for msn
which came from an old isp so if in doubt I use the older one that i
use for msn.
no one can email me because that email address is now blocked due to
the fact I don't use and left it to overload and get itself banned
perminantly.
The only reason at all I even have the second account is if I forget
the password because I can never recover that password again.

Hi Desiree,

The spam message we got on list didn't originate from your account. It
came from another member. So no worries. Still, I hope you get your
own spam issues worked out as spam is a nasty problem we all have to
deal with at one time or another. :D
