I'll probably jinx it, now, but I'll dare to mention that it never crashed
on my iPhone 4. I'll have to see if I have such good luck with the new
version on my iPhone 5.

Version 1.2 of the game already runs on the new engine. They mentioned
it separately because they're starting to license the use of it out to
other developers now.
For what it's worth, I've played through the first 15 levels of
version 1.2 and only had 1 crash and a couple of weird instances of
sounds failing to trigger. True, that's one crash and a couple
instances too many, but it's a big step up from how unstable the game
was before it was pulled down for a rewrite.
