Mudlet (MUD game client) went ahead and created a symlink to ~/mudlet-data that linked to ~/.config/mudlet. Not ideal, but a lot of people are switching to Linux-based OS's, and this was just confusing them as to where to find the stuff. (it was especially impossible for users on mac os to find it as well, even more.)
