Yeah, it was good. So the way I explain it is that the special
delimeters act as a type of meta-data for the path-segment names.
Otherwise how do we know to wrap one segment in a <HOST> tag, while
another in a <CLUSTER> or <GRID> tag?
As for the URL, I am thinking that this is a good idea:

sdsc%20rocks%20grid/meteor//compute-0-2?filter=<filter name>&<filter
args>
where <filter name> is something like "summary" or "substring" or
"regex", and the <filter args> are a standard CGI variable list of
arguments for the filter. The nice thing is the set we apply the filter
to is clearly defined by the path portion of the URL.
The other good thing is that this is a standard URL interpretable by
any browser.
