i suspect that federico is right (assuming the MTU is constant and data isn't being fragmented).

one way to visualize this might be to create a new network graph template. i've seen people visualizate load as an area (instead of a line) and the color of the area relates to the percent CPU. blue to red 0 - 100% cpu.

we could have a network graph with in/out areas that are color based on % of MTU.

of course, i'm not volunteering to create that template. :)

What I have a hard time with is the fact that there is no significant new information in the pkts/sec graph. It should look like the network rate graph divided by the MTU. The curves will be identical. (typically the MTU will be the same across all interfaces).

Am I missing something? If there is not a significant reason to see this graph, we should omit it, since it takes up room on the page. Or at least make the default to hide it. Perhaps there is some other reason to see it that I have not thought of.

Federico,

I thought about that, but I belive the metrics will be to different in
values due to the different units.

But I agree that screen space is expensive. What would be desirable is
a way to easily configure which graphs to show on the overview pages.
That way everyone could be happy.

Is there any way to combine this packet graph into the network rate
graph? Screen space is expensive, and we have made quite a bit of
effort to compact information onto the screen efficiently.
