Funny you said that, because I got the impression that if it wouldn't be for your patches we wouldn't have had much to do ;) After all, all problems you had raised were for sure not only affecting you and had made ganglia better for everyone with your suggested solutions (after some style fixes and tweaks of course because there is no perfect patch, except for the ones I write). > > like Brad did with so much energy that we had to give him admin access, > > and ask him kindly to explain to us how this ganglia 3.1 was meant to work > > as he almost left none of our contributions left after his refactoring). > > Now that I have my 3.0 stabilized, I can imagine a way to test 3.1 on a > separate server. Not your fault; sadly we didn't have a comprehensive test plan or were able to coordinate testing in a way that would cover all important configurations and this one (at least to my surprise) was missed. Testing ganglia isn't easy as you can't do it in your own desktop and will need to setup a small lab environment (which we don't have) and because it runs in so many different platforms (some that we have no access to) and therefore this failure is sadly not completely unexpected. I guess at least next time we will be a little more careful in interpreting the absence of feedback as an indication of "testing OK, there are no problems", instead of the most appropriate "we had no time to deploy a test environment and test it yet".
