Since you are on RHEL, you should just build RPMs from the snapshot
tarball and install them:

`rpmbuild -tb --target i386,noarch ganglia-3.1.0.1361.tar.gz`.

This will produce ganglia-gmond, ganglia-gmetad, ganglia-devel,
libganglia-3_1_0, ganglia-web RPMs.

If you have problems building, please let us know.  I have built on
CentOS 5 installation and it was fine.
