not really; 3.1.4 builds fine with python support in Solaris 10 as shown in the thread you linked to : http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg05098.html the new bootstrapping might also affect Solaris 8 or older releases, which is why I don't think that expediting this release will make much sense, specially considering that there are almost no benefits IMHO.
