This is true, but I would also like to add that many vim-users (like emacs-users) have heavily customed and configured their editor to adapt to several different types of files etc. That's a lot of invested time. We all know it takes quite some effort to become fluent in either vim or emacs and even though I would (and did) move to emacs pretty much solely because emacs at the moment is the One True Editor for lisp, I know many would not do that (and they're learning lisp using vim as an editor). So, even though I'm not asking slime for vim for myself, I *do* think that choice is a really good thing.
