I've configured it in the standard, replies go back to the list, only subscribers can post, setup that fosters discussion and keeps you from having to clear a queue of hundreds of spam messages a day. But you can adjust the settings as you see fit--just be sure you keep on top of any moderation that needs to happen so the box doesn't get choked on unmoderated messages.
