Tom, Not at all. Simply using biomass to convert a waste material into a liquid fuel.
It's a marriage of synergies. Heat grade producer gas is used to convert waste plastic that would end up in the land fill. No need for squeaky clean gas and you end up with a liquid fuel plus charcoal and if it would be possible to cascade the heat stream say into a lumber kiln all the better.
