IMHO, most folks tend to over value spring games performances. The spring game is the time when coaches let the younger players and perennial backups get significant on field experience and evaluation. Very rarely are these kids playing against starters. The only thing Scott's performance proved in the spring game is that he was better or at least at that point in time more advanced than the other players. Clearly when Dunlap, Hunter, Cunningham, Spikes, and the rest of the starters returned in the fall, he wasn't nearly as successful. If he had been, I have to believe UM would have played Scott more during the regular season. Second, in TT we had our short yardage big back and there was no way UM was going to take the ball out of TT's hands. Now in 2010 and Brantley at the controls, things will be different.

Mark Ingraham, Alabama's first Heisman winner, was only 3 stars coming out of HS. Moody has suppose to be "it" and has not produced yet. Hopefully he wakes up this year - his contract year. Gillislee has show flashes of being incredible. I am growing tired of the little guys (Rainey and Demps) running from the backfield. Lets get them out in space or save them for the inferior opponents. And then the coaches won't play Chris Scott who looked so good last spring. But we've got some depth now for big backs - Moody, Gillislee, and Mack Brown. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [gatortalk] Signings From: Woody < <mailto:gatorrr...@gmail.com> gatorrr...@gmail.com> Date: Wed, February 03, 2010 2:10 pm To: <mailto:gatortalk@googlegroups.com> gatortalk@googlegroups.com I wouldnt get too excited about Mack Brown... the comments ive heard around here are "he doesnt live up to the hype"... so we will see if he's the real deal or not. No concerns about Brantley - but the QB we signed last year (Reed) could not pick up the offense and moved to TE. The two new QBs are not highly rated - but this was a weak year for QBs. Scot Loeffler picked these guys - so let's see if Loeffler is as good as Spurrier at developing QBs. TE - we now have the old QB (Reed), the TE we signed last year who had a knee injury (Parks) plus we signed Christian and McFarland. Christian is the third rated TE in the country by Scout and is enrolled for spring practice. OL - we have a lot of good players - but with all the injuries that usually happen - they like to have a lot of backups. With all the defenisve line men we signed - I wonder if Leon Orr will move to OL? Maybe we'll pick up that other OL man later in the day. RB - we signd one great one, Mack Brown. I am biased to liking the big backs, and Moody is not bringing it. Mack Brown should be the big back that can bring it every down. Don't rule out the guy we signed last year Mike Gillislee, who is very good also. WR - we are stocked, added four more good WRs and Andre Debose (the next Percy Harvin) sat out last year. Defensive end and DT - incredible who we got. So good that Leon Orr, a DT, has expressed interest in playing OL, and we might move him over Powell - #1 DE in the country Floyd - #1 DT in the country Easly - #2 DT in the country Trail - #7 DE in the country Orr - #11 DT in the country, but may move to OL DBs - we signed five DBs plus three athletes that may play DB. All of these guys are good. LBs we have plenty, got three more. But a lot of the DBs are so big and athletic some of them will be able to play LB. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [gatortalk] Signings From: Woody < <mailto:gatorrr...@gmail.com> gatorrr...@gmail.com> Date: Wed, February 03, 2010 1:28 pm To: <mailto:gatortalk@googlegroups.com> gatortalk@googlegroups.com ok sooooooooooo... with this many signed... are we still gonna have any depth issues? or are we pretty solid across the board?
