 Sorry for the kid - he is an incredible talent - but that is part of the game - sure he is getting the best medical advice / care / surgery that a kid can get - not bad advice and surgery that a lot of these kids get

 

Kids today never had it so good.  I remember back in the old days - they didn't have arthroscopic surgery.  They cut you open and you were in a cast for weeks.  It tooks months to recover - some people never do recover.   I have the scar to prove it :-)

 

Today they are back running and playing in weeks ...

Glades Day star back Kelvin Taylor has knee surgery, but should be ready for fall practice

by Glades Day star running back Kelvin Taylor had knee surgery about three weeks ago and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks, Gators coach Pete Walker confirmed Tuesday.

Taylor, a rising sophomore, suffered the injury at the start of spring practice in early May. Walker originally thought the injury would require only rest, but he did held Taylor out of the Gator's spring game against Palm Beach Gardens as a precaution.

"He just got tackled and never got much better," Walker said.

The surgery was done to repair a partially torn meniscus in the right knee.

Walker said that doctors expected Taylor to be out 4-6 weeks, which puts him on schedule to be ready for the start of fall practice.

"Everybody's healing time is different, but he won't be allowed to go until he's 100 percent," Walker said.

Taylor, a first-team all-state choice as a freshman and the son of New England Patriots running back Fred Taylor, is coming off a season in which he rushed for 1,439 yards and 28 touchdowns during the regular season and another 1,158 yards and 18 touchdowns in four playoff games as he led the Gators to the state championship. Despite his young age, Taylor is already one of the highest-regarded players in the state.

"You hate to see an injury happen to any kid, especially one with a bright future," Walker said. "But this should be something he's able to come back from at full speed."
