We have a joke among our circle of football watchers. Whenever it is 1st, 2nd or 3rd and a yard for a 1st down or a TD, my friends all ask me what play to call.
Each time, I yell "QB sneak." Under center is implied. Even if it is a half of a yard, there will always be 4th down. It is dull, even ugly, but it works. It also minimizes the chances of a tackle for a loss, or a penalty on the offensive line. I can't keep track of how many times sometime "more clever" than the QB sneak has backfired. Newton is big and strong. Pouncey is a hoss. Put Newton under center on 2nd and goal from the 1 and run the sneak 3 times in a row if you have to. I guarantee a TD. Or do this other garbage, knowing that your kicker is out of the game. You make the call. -Zeb On Oct 19, 2010, at 6:59 PM, wildeart...@gmail.com wrote: > I don't understand why that's odd.
