The other thing I forgot to mention - no matter how much they have to work
during CF season, it is basically a September to January job - being the head
coach of a CF program OTOH, is a year round job even in the "off" season.

I've heard Kirk Herbstreit talk about this before, as I'm sure of you have.
It depends on Urban's "gig". He may only have to travel on Friday and Saturday
and be home the rest of the week. His work load will be done mostly from home.
Herbstreit has called it the best job in the world multiple times. I think
there's a reason you see people like Tony Dungy, John Gruden, etc turn to
commentating on games instead of coaching is that they get their lifes back.

I agree 100% with Darlene. I think it’s a good move for both Meyer AND his
family. Even if he DOES travel more now, there will STILL be more home time
with less responsibilities. A win-win for all involved.

Even so, it's basically a part-time job vs. a 60-80 hour work week as a HBC,
and the ESPN gig will rely heavily on his expertise and knowledge, not exactly
a pressure cooker like the fishbowl that is the UF coaching job. I think the
stress level of coaching goes up exponentially over that of being a TV analyst
and it was the stress that was killing his health.

In theory, I would agree with you. However, there will probably be more
travel and Urban is a perfectionist and workaholic. I don’t think he will be
satisfied just being eye-candy. He is not a natural comedian so he will have
to outwork the others to be effective. I am sure he knows that and will try to
outwork them.

There is no comparison, IMO, between the hours and stress of TV
commentating and running a major college football program. He's got a cushy
ride now, he's earned it!

      Perhaps not the Wednesday games.

I thought it was pretty cool when he did the national championship game.
Upon further review…it seems like he may be filling up his schedule again. Is
he replacing the stress of Florida Football with the stress of ESPN?

I never really bought into that spend more time with the family. I
believed that the major reason was health.

So Urban is going to be working a college football game every week this
season. Won't that interfere with watching volleyball?
