This is my very least favorite topic -- I think that accepting
the proposed initial GB is a tolerable tradeoff for the sake of
actually having bylaws. I don't have any other defense of it.

But there is no "old board". There was one interim GB meeting
ever, attended by me, Dalibor Topic, Mark Reinhold, Simon Phipps,
and Fabiane Nardon, resulting in plans to write the constitution
(as it was then called, not bylaws). Which never actually got
written. (I think it is safe to say that it didn't get done
because doing so was a low priority at Sun at the time.)
When Dalibor joined, and Simon left, Sun, some members were added,
but this group never met or did anything before being
sunsetted out of existence.  My only GB-related activity for
the past two years has been occasional prods to Mark Reinhold
to someday restart this.
