Heres a teaser for all you GB experts ...

I can connect to the company network with the GB client, over a dsl modem, and
am able to browse shares, run outlook, etc.

However, when I connect via dial-up, I can connect with outlook, telnet etc
but when attempting any netbios stuff such as a net view \\ or a net use \\ am
told "no logon server to validate your request" or "access denied".. all this
stuff works fine over the dsl.

Client and server are both 2k sp4 fully patched. Client is using hosts &
lmhosts file. ISP is not blocking any type of traffic on the dial up
connection.

I have seen very similar behaviour before with a site to site vpn, which
turned out to be a crappy router.

any ideas?

TIA

Richard

No expert, but things to check....
You definitely have the Client for MS Windows bound to the dial-up?
Also, if it's Windows XP you don't have any odd Firewall in XP for the dial-up?
