The difficulty is generally that folks don't own a full class C IP range
so the owner must correctly delegate the lookup or configure their lookup
to resolve to your name.

If they delegate, then your DNS server must be configured to respond to
the delegations. If you use gnatbox as your DNS, good luck. I've never
been able to figure how to configure the reverse lookups ... just get
error messages ... but perhaps the latest version works.

In any case, www.dnsstuff.com is a good way to test what is happening.

My plan ... next time I upgrade, I'm going to use the 30 day support
window to get help resolving the various DNS problems I continue to see.

The mangled reverse lookup now provided provides enough so that
chartermi no longer bounces my email and that was my primary concern. I
can't send to AOL any longer but the only AOL user I care about is my wife
and I don't need to send her email. ;-:)
