I have read Sutter's Modest Proposal on fixing ADL that you referred to me. If you had told me earlier about this instead of bluntly telling me this was not a GCC bug, I would have much more quickly given up the request to `fix' this behaviour. (Hey, PLEASE do not argue with me on this: it is just an after comment on facts.) Since the future is undecided on how to make the program pass (I believe it *is* the consensus of C++ gurus that the OP's program should compile, though it is undefined and nonportable under the current C++ Standard), it is premature to take measures to `correct' the current behaviour. However, the error message *is* user unfriendly. I suppose no one objects to this. So my request is still that the error message should be improved.
