The identical setup works for gcc-4.4.2 and gcc-4.4.3 I'm a little bit short on time at the moment, but I try to dig into it further. To find the change that caused the different behavior probably will help. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42847
